FunnyDad is a free daily dose of dad jokes and short funny stories. Open it, laugh or groan, come back tomorrow. There’s no account to make, nothing to subscribe to, and nothing to pay — the whole collection is there to read from the first visit.

What you’ll find here

Every day we publish one joke and one short story, both picked by the date, so everyone reading on a given day sees the same pair. Beyond that, the full collection is sorted into categories — puns, one-liners, knock-knock jokes, and jokes and stories about family life, work and the time of year. Stories are kept to under a minute’s reading, and a good number of them turn on a final line worth waiting for.

Jokes that have a punchline, and stories with a twist, are hidden until you tap them. It’s a small thing, but reading a punchline a half-second before you meant to ruins it, and we’d rather you got the timing right.

Where the jokes come from

The collection is assembled and edited in-house at DadSteps Limited, drawing on traditional jokes that have been passed around for generations, material written for the app, and submissions from readers. Everything is read before it goes in. We aim for humour that a general audience can enjoy: nothing explicit, nothing cruel, and nothing that needs an apology afterwards.

We get it wrong sometimes. If a joke reads badly, is filed under the wrong category, or is yours and shouldn’t be here, tell us and we’ll deal with it.

How this is paid for

FunnyDad is free and supported by advertising. That’s the whole business model — there’s no paid tier, no subscription, and nothing behind a paywall. We keep ads to a level that doesn’t wreck the reading, because a site that’s annoying to use doesn’t get a second visit. If you’re in the EU or UK, you’ll be asked about ad personalisation before any advertising or analytics loads, and you can change that answer whenever you like. The detail is in our Privacy Policy.
