FunnyDad Privacy Policy

DadSteps Limited (“we,” “us,” “our”) operates the FunnyDad mobile application and website (funnydad.app) (together, the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what information is and isn’t collected when you use the Service.

The short version: FunnyDad has no accounts, no login, and no sign-up. We don’t collect your name, email address, or any personal profile information. The only data collection involved comes from the advertising services that keep the Service free, described below.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

FunnyDad does not require or request:

• An account, username, or password
• Your name, email address, or phone number
• Any personal profile or identity information

There is nothing to sign up for, and nothing tying your use of the Service to your identity, on our end.

2. Information Stored Only on Your Device

The app stores a small amount of technical data locally on your device, to make the app work smoothly. This data is never transmitted to us or to any third party:

• Content display order — a shuffled sequence used to avoid repeating the same joke or story too soon
• Notification preferences — your chosen reminder time, if you set one
• Theme preference — light, dark, or system default

This information stays on your device and is deleted automatically if you uninstall the app.

3. Advertising and Third-Party Services

FunnyDad is free to use and supported by advertising. We use the following third-party advertising services:

• Google AdSense — on the website (funnydad.app)
• Google AdMob — in the mobile app
• AppLovin — in the mobile app, via mediation

These services may collect certain technical information to serve and measure ads, which can include:

• Advertising identifiers (such as your device’s advertising ID)
• Cookies and similar identifiers stored in your browser (website)
• IP address and approximate location
• Device and browser information (device type, operating system, browser version)
• Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks)
• Pages viewed on funnydad.app, used to choose ads relevant to what you are reading

This data is collected and processed by Google and AppLovin as independent data controllers, not by DadSteps Limited. We do not have access to this data ourselves, and it is governed by each provider’s own privacy policy:

4. Cookies and Similar Technologies

The FunnyDad website does not set cookies of its own for analytics, tracking, or measuring you across sites. We have no first-party analytics product and no advertising cookies of our own.

Cookies and similar browser storage are set on funnydad.app by:

• Google’s consent management platform — to remember the choice you made on the consent screen, so you are not asked again on every page. This is set regardless of what you choose, because your choice has to be stored somewhere to be honoured.
• Google AdSense — to serve ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure clicks and impressions, and detect fraudulent activity. Where you have consented to personalised advertising, these may also be used to build and use an advertising profile.

You can clear or block cookies at any time in your browser settings. Blocking them will not stop you using the site, but you may be asked for your consent choice again on your next visit, and ads will be non-personalised.

Your consent choices (EU/UK users)

If you’re located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you’ll be shown a consent screen before any advertising or analytics loads, in compliance with GDPR and UK data protection law. We use Google’s certified consent management platform for this — the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) SDK in the app, and Google’s equivalent consent management platform on the website.

You can choose whether to allow personalised advertising, and you can change that choice at any time:

• In the app — from Settings, under “Privacy Choices.”
• On the website — from the “Privacy Choices” or “Manage cookies” option presented by the consent screen, which can be reopened at any time. Clearing your browser cookies for funnydad.app will also cause the consent screen to be shown again.

If you don’t consent to personalised ads, you’ll still see ads, but they won’t be based on your personal data or advertising identifiers — only non-personalised, contextual ads chosen from the content of the page you are reading. Non-personalised ads still use a limited amount of data for frequency capping, aggregated reporting, and fraud prevention.

Your consent is the legal basis under GDPR for personalised advertising. For non-personalised advertising and for fraud prevention, the legal basis is our and our advertising partners’ legitimate interest in funding and protecting a free service.

5. Push Notifications

If you enable notifications, the app schedules a local reminder directly on your device using your device’s own operating system. No notification data, token, or schedule is ever sent to our servers — because we don’t have any servers involved in this feature at all.

6. Hosting and Server Logs

The website is hosted on Cloudflare’s network. Like effectively all web hosting, Cloudflare processes the technical details of each request — including IP address, browser user agent, and the page requested — in order to deliver the page to you and to protect the site from attacks and abuse. This is standard infrastructure logging, is not used by us to build any profile of you, and is covered by Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

7. Children’s Privacy

FunnyDad is a general-audience service and is not directed at, or targeted toward, children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Content includes general adult humour that is not intended for a child audience.

8. Your Rights

Under GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, and object to the processing of your personal data, the right to data portability, and the right to withdraw consent at any time.

Because we do not collect or store personal data about you directly, most such requests should be directed to the relevant advertising provider (Google or AppLovin) using the links in Section 3, since they are the parties actually processing that data. Withdrawing consent for personalised advertising is done through the consent screen, as described above.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
