More Family Stories
- I set a goal to read one book a month this year, confident it'd be easy. By March I'd read exactly zero, but I had bought seven new books, which I've decided still counts for something.
- My son asked if he could cut his own hair after watching a video online. I said no. He did it anyway during his nap time, and we spent the rest of the week explaining the haircut to curious relatives.
- We decided to try a family bike ride around the neighborhood on a Sunday morning, confident it would be a quick, easy outing. Ninety minutes and one flat tire later, we finally made it back home.
- My daughter insisted on picking out my outfit for a work presentation, and I let her, mostly for fun. She actually picked a genuinely solid combination, and I got three compliments on it that same day.
- I decided to learn how to change my own oil to save on mechanic fees, watching several tutorials beforehand. It took an entire Saturday, cost about the same once I bought the tools, but I felt genuinely accomplished.
- My son wanted to build a robot for the school science fair, so we spent two weekends researching and building. It didn't actually move in the end, but the judges were impressed enough by the wiring diagram alone.
