More Seasonal Stories
- We decided to try camping in the backyard instead of a real trip, setting up the tent and everything properly. The kids loved it right up until it started raining, and everyone ended up back inside by midnight.
- We tried decorating gingerbread houses as a family activity this year, buying an elaborate kit with extra candy. The structures collapsed within an hour, but the candy consumption rate remained impressively high throughout.
- I decided to plant a fall garden this year, researching which vegetables would actually survive the cooler weather. Everything I planted thrived beautifully, except for the one plant I was most excited about, which never sprouted at all.
- We hosted Easter dinner for the whole extended family this year, coordinating a menu for fifteen people. The ham came out perfectly, but we ran out of chairs and ended up with three people eating standing at the counter.
- My daughter wanted to write letters to Santa this year explaining exactly why she deserved every item on her list, complete with supporting evidence. It was thorough, surprisingly persuasive, and genuinely impressive for an eight-year-old.
- We took the kids to a pumpkin patch this fall, expecting to pick out one pumpkin each and head home quickly. Two hours, one hayride, and one very stubborn negotiation over pumpkin size later, we finally left.
