- I decided to try composting for the first time, following an online guide closely. Two months in, I have a thriving bin of genuinely excellent soil, and a newfound respect for how complicated rotting vegetables can get.
- We hosted an Easter egg hunt for the neighborhood kids this year, hiding forty eggs across the yard. By the end, we'd only found thirty-eight, and two remain permanently, mysteriously missing to this day.
- We took the kids to the beach for the first time this summer, expecting them to love the water. Instead, they spent the entire day building an elaborate sandcastle and barely touched the ocean once.
- I tried making homemade ice cream for the Fourth of July, following a recipe that promised it was foolproof. It came out somewhere between soup and disappointment, but we ate it anyway and called it a slushy.
